The Portland Center Apartments were built in downtown Portland’s urban renewal district in 1965. In 2005, the three apartment towers were purchased by a team of Portland developers – Williams & Dame Development, Bean Investment Real Estate and Reliance Development, Inc. -- with the intent to convert each structure to condominiums. The 537 high-rise units and 24 townhomes make this the largest condo conversion in Portland.

Harrison West at 255 SW Harrison is a 26-story high-rise has 193 units and townhomes. It was the first building converted to condos. Harrison East at 222 SW Harrison stands 23 stories and offers 188 units and townhomes. It is currently in the conversion process. Harrison South at 111 SW Harrison is a 22-story tower with 156 units and townhomes. This building has not yet been converted.

The complex was designed during the height of mid-century modern architecture. Skidmore, Owings and Merrill Architects – a firm renown for creating some of the world’s tallest and most advanced buildings, such as Sears Tower in Chicago and the new Freedom Tower in New York – designed the minimalist structures.

Unit interiors feature carpeted living and bedrooms, ceramic tiled bathrooms and hardwood floors in the kitchen, hallway and entry. Kitchens feature granite slab countertops, European style cabinets with chrome hardware and stainless steel appliances. Some units are upgraded with stainless steel topped kitchen islands. Other features include brushed chrome light fixtures, recessed lighting and exterior decks. Building amenities include a swimming pool and spa; off-street parking garage; controlled access entry and expansive landscaped grounds and courtyard.

Harrison is located on the Portland streetcar line with convenient access to the South Waterfront, downtown, Pearl District and NW 23rd Avenue.
